Family Holidays
Day 1: Driving to Bright

Day 1: Driving to Bright

Rachael was desperately trying to help by putting random things in the car, so we could up and go on our holiday – she was very excited. The trip up actually went quite well. Seth had a decent nap in the first half, while Rach coloured and later watched some Netflix.

We stopped at a bakery in Euroa for our halfway break/lunch. Seth was pretty excited and took down some sausage roll, while Rach sat quietly working through a whole apple cake. The wind outside blew away any evidence in a whirlwind of pastry flakes, and the little birds came in for the rest. We changed Seth 10 minutes down the road at a truck stop, then promptly a truckie parked right up behind us and started bumming a dart. Wrapped up quickly and then passed a “luxury facility” no more than 2kms later. We could only laugh.

Sesame Street was deployed on the tablet to get Seth through the last 45mins, and the last 18mins became an “almost there” mantra proposition, but we made it! Seth let out a “woooooah” at the mountains. Rach was beyond excited at the arrival of the cabin declaring “This is the best summer ever!” (taken slightly from Teen Beach movie?)

(4hr30 drive time)

We headed to the playground after unpacking and had fun on the bouncing pillow and creating castles in the sand that Seth loved destroying (and then Rachael did too).

We were very surprised by how excited Seth was to be on holiday too – he was immediately stamping about and getting busy, grabbing a triangular table brochure display and using it as a megaphone to declare “YEAH!”.

Some dinner and meeting the local magpies later, it was time to crash into bed. Seth screamed a lot from being somewhere new and exhausted. A good patch then a 3 am and 5 am wake up and scream was challenging. Rach was not happy sharing a room with such a noisy roommate, but otherwise, she handled it like a champ. They had some good laughs and talks when they woke up at 7 am.
