Day 6: The Winddown, maybe?

Day 6: The Winddown, maybe?

All of Rach’s park friends were leaving today. It was a slow moving morning today and it was about 10:30am when the kids got out to the playground. I finished up dishes and then joined shortly after.

Josh and Charlie were there, much to Rach’s delight and Seth introduced himself to the group by showing his belly. I think one of our “meet new people” type public outings I asked him to show his belly, as he’d been doing that earlier, and now I think he thinks that’s how you introduce yourself.

I was carrying Seth, giving him a bounce on the kangaroo hopper and the other kids played “mummy”/”daddy” – involuntary tackles and shoulder hugs on the ground.

When walking the surrounding sand with Seth I stepped on something and thought I had split my foot. It wasn’t the case, but then the burning started. Some bee or insect put a hole in my foot. Josh offered “if it’s a bee sting or something, then you should put some ice on it.”. I hobbled back to the cabin and did so. An ice pack worked quite well.

Later they all returned to the cabin and Charlie popped in too. She commented, “Wow! It’s messy in here!” and “Why are you saying bideo, it’s video” to Rachael, when she was showing her iTablet.

We hit town for Gum Tree Pies lunch and it was hard to convince Seth to have some sausage roll after having some Brownie. Rach loved her milkshake and the caramel slice too. We were in and out as Seth was fading fast. The weather had turned quite humid.

Plenty more playground playing with Rachael as Seth napped (not really, until sometime after when he actually settled and slept). I shot hoops and Rach alternated between her newfound love of the big slide and the kangaroo bouncer.

It wasn’t until our brewery dinner by the time Seth got up. He was in a great mood and ready to go! Lots of beer and chips, Rach really got into Dad’s calamari and Seth worked the floor gaining many adoring fans. Rach had some Billson’s Creaming Soda, probably the most soft drink she’s had in a sitting, rare as it is. She had us in stitches as she gave hyper performances and got cosy with Dad. She was drunk on sugar!

A quick big playground visit afterwards in hopes of burning off some energy, which consisted of many slides of course. Seth stayed in the pusher, fading again after such an eventful evening.
