Original Movie Idea – Will Sell For Cheap

Dave and I often come up with lots of crazy ideas when we are talking, usually over a meal. We got talking about stem cell research and the lack of original ideas in modern cinema (amongst other things) over a Thai dinner.

So here is a summary of a plot for a movie we came up with as a result of these two topics of discussion:

OVERDUE

Set in the somewhat near future, when stem cell research yields the possibility for eternal life, the rich are able to purchase this benefit for their children at birth. Due to the obvious issues concerning overpopulation the government has put in place a policy where people are terminated at the age of 150. This is commonly known, so when you purchase an eternal life benefit it is expected that you will live to a maximum of 150 years old. Most, having lived a full and prosperous life hand themselves into the clinic for termination at 150. For those who don’t however, a Jewish hit squad assembled by the government track down and terminate anyone breaching this law. (The “eternals” are also given a gene anomaly at birth which enables the hit squad to terminate them at will using a formula) Both the formula and the identities of the hit squad members make up the most highly classified information in existence.

The story follows a New York City cop, Gibson, who investigating a series of killings by a rogue vigilante who despises the rich and is terminating those with the eternal life benefit before their time. Whoever he is, he has a vast knowledge of the secret formula, those with the eternal life benefit and has the angst to use it against those who he believes do not deserve it.

Just as Gibson makes a break in the case, he himself reaches his termination age of 150. Determined to investigate and close the case, Gibson must elude the Jewish hit squad who are tracking him for termination – of which may also possibly covering for the vigilante who was once one of them.
